Dog Friendly
The Gable House is dog friendly and we welcome one dog per room with a weight limit of 40 pounds. Not only can you and your dog enjoy the historic house and our gardens & grounds, but Durango is host to many dog friendly watering holes and the best off-leash dog park in the country with access to the Animas River. We look forward to hosting you and your furry best friend when you visit Durango, Colorado.
Durango Off-Leash Dog Park
Durango features one of the best off-leash dog parks in the country with open fields, access to the Animas River, hiking trails and more. Dogs love Durango almost as much as Durango loves dogs. The Gable House welcomes one dog per room up to 40 pounds, and we promise that we love animals as much as you. You can't visit Durango with your furry friend without a stop at the Durango Dog Park. Pedestrian access is 0.1 miles west of the intersection of Highway 160 West and Highway 550, on the South side of Highway 160 West. There is limited parking in the dirt parking lot, but it's only a short walk from downtown Durango after you cross Camino del Rio.
Dog Friendly Bars and Restaurants
Durango is host to an assortment of dog-friendly restaurants and bars. We love 11th Street Station because there are a ton of local food trucks and they often feature live music and local events, but one of our favorite parts is the largest dog friendly patio and establishment in downtown Durango. 11th Street Station is only a few blocks from the Gable House, and just like us they are super dog friendly.
Shop Local and Help Animals
Shopping local is one of the best ways to be sustainable, and its one of the best things about being in Durango. The Gable House is dedicated to dogs and all our furry friends. We are pet friendly, and when you are visiting Durango we encourage you to go thrifting at the La Plata County Humane Society Thrift Store - only a short drive from the Gable House with access from the Animas River Trail - where all proceeds benefit the animas.
