Horse Gulch & Telegraph Trails
The Horse Gulch & Telegraph Trails are less than a mile from your room at the Gable House Bed & Breakfast offering novice-expert riding options. From smooth and fast to rugged and steep, this system has it all. The Horse Gulch is the staple of Durango mountain bike rides with the main trailhead just east of E 8th Avenue on 3rd Street. The Mesa Connector Trail also begins on the Horse Gulch Trail system. The Gable House Bed & Breakfast offers free bike storage for our guests, and there are several local bike shops within walking or biking distance - and several offer rentals.
The Trails at Fort Lewis College
The Gable House Bed & Breakfast is a proud support of Fort Lewis College and Fort Lewis Athletics - we're also huge fans of the Sky Steps that connect you from the grid of historic downtown Durango to the mesa where you find Fort Lewis College. Fort Lewis College is often referred to as the "Campus in the Sky" due to the very scenic Rim Trail surrounding the campus. The Sky Rim Trail at Fort Lewis College is easily accessible from the Gable House with a short walk and challenging hike up the Sky Steps, or a short drive from your free parking spot on 5th Avenue to Fort Lewis campus.
Durango Mesa Bike Park
The Durango Mesa Bike Park is the newest addition to Durango's local trail systems and it's less than a half a mile from your comfortable and adventurous stay at the Gable House Bed & Breakfast. Built by the notorious trail building company Progressive Trail Design, the Durango Mesa Bike Park system is a collaboration between the City of Durango and the Durango Mesa Park Foundation as a teaser of what is to come in the future at the Durango Mesa Bike Park. We highly encourage our adventures cycling guests to ride up to the Durango Mesa Bike Park while staying at the Gable House Bed & Breakfast.
