What Our Guests Are Saying…
The Los Angeles Times wrote about us on 5/21/2006. Travel writer Ben Brazil said that Gable House is a “lovely 114-year-old Queen Anne in a residential district of downtown”.
I felt like a Queen in the Queen Anne Victorian Gable House in Durango, Colorado. From the time Ms. Heather opened her door, I felt welcome. She escorted us through her elegant home and I felt “at home”. I especially enjoyed relaxing on one of her balconies overlooking this historic and quiet neighborhood. The southwestern breakfast was delicious. Heather was very helpful in telling us the history of her house, and all the interesting things in and around Durago we might like to see while we were in Durango. I have stayed at many B&Bs all over the world, and I would sincerely say that this is the best “home away from home” I’ve ever experienced.
Sincerely,

Gable House is literally the hidden jewel of Durango. It is a large home, yet at the same time a small, elegant and very well-run B&B. My wife and I have stayed in many B&B’s and this is the best one we have found.

The Gable House, an 1892 mansion on the National Register, is one of the most imposing buildings in a tree-shaded neighborhood adjacent to downtown Durango. Full breakfast is complimentary, as is use of a pool table. Each of the well-furnished rooms includes some antiques, a private bath and a queen bed. One also has a private view porch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gable House. The lodging has a fascinating history, is convenient to downtown, and includes a gourmet breakfast prepared by the charming innkeeper.
